Mobile Library
This past year, 2023, we were blessed to be given a school bus by Frank and Ruby Dodson who own Rose Truck Sales and Rose Sales here in Corpus Christi.
We are now in the process of raising funds to transform the bus (both inside and outside) into a fun and inviting mobile library that will include shelves for books and tables and seats for classes and crafts.
We were also blessed by HEB in August with a $5000 grant to jump start the funding. We have been collecting books for several years now, and have a great collection for all ages. We still need educational toys for ages 0-5 and will post a Wishlist soon. Our financial goal for transforming the bus is $30,000. This will include painting the inside and outside, installing a generator to run an AC unit and lights, installing shelving and creating an area for classes and crafts to be done.
The more volunteers we find to do some work, the less money we will have to spend. We will also be raising funds to run the mobile library. We will need about $1000 per year for insurance and $30,000 - $40,000 per year to hire 2 people to manage and drive it for about 10 hours a week to start with. We hope it will grow and more funding will allow for more time.
